If a player is unable to attend the evaluations, they will still be drafted to a team at the end in draft order by age and alphabetically. Please make sure your player is dressed for the weather and, if possible, in baseball pants and a hat. Also have them bring their bat, glove, a drink, sunscreen, etc.
Player Evaluation Details
-
All players in the Rookie division and up will go through evaluations.
-
Independent evaluators will assign scores.
-
Hitting/Base running: Players will place their glove by 1st base and head to home plate to hit. Each player will receive 3 front toss throws and then run through 1st base.
-
Fielding: They will grab their glove and field 3 ground balls and 3 pop fly’s and throw each to 3rd base. They will then head to 3rd base to catch the next player at first base. Once they’re done fielding at 3rd, they will head over to right field position and rotate through all 3 outfield positions shagging batted balls and throwing them back in. Once they finish in left field, they are done and exit out the 3rd base dugout.
Coach Draft Details
THIS IS ONLY FOR THE COACHES TO ATTEND. PARENTS AND PLAYERS DO NOT ATTEND.
Draft Format
-
Coaches must pick their protected players first before moving to the available players list.
-
After protected players have been picked, coaches will be able to pick any player on the roster in their team’s draft order. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE PLAYERS WHO DID NOT ATTEND THE EVALUATION.
-
If a coach does not have any protected players or less than 6, they can pick from the roster in their team’s draft order. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE PLAYERS WHO DID NOT ATTEND THE EVALUATION.
Players who do not evaluate will be picked last and in the draft order to help prevent coaches from picking players they know are more talented than others don’t know.
