Amarillo Area Youth Baseball League

ABOUT

The Amarillo Area Youth Baseball League is a recreational league that provides a developmental, fun draft league for kids ages 3-14. This league is perfect for kids who are new to the sport, want to play in local leagues, or are looking for more playing time to improve their game.

Players will register individually and be placed/drafted to a team. This league will focus on skills, fundamentals, and development in a recreational setting.

Age Division Information

Players participate in divisions listed based on their age as of April 30th, 2026

VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure to read and understand the division listed so you know which age group you need to register your child in. It’s not always the age they are now, but the age they will be by a certain date, and we don’t want any kid missing out because they were registered wrong and the correct division is full. Overview of Age Division/Leagues

3-4U Knee High

COST:$85.00
8 games, 1 game per weekend.
Draft League
Evaluations: NO. Coaches will draft and contact parents within 48 hours after rosters are finalized.


This is a fun introduction to baseball for the little ones. All the players will only be hitting off the batting tee.

Players must turn 3 on or before April 30th, 2026, and can’t turn 5 until May 1st, 2026, or after. All players in this division get an end-of-season ring that they will love. 

6U Pee Wee

COST: $130
Team Formation: Draft League Coaches can protect up to 6 players, then attend the coaches’ draft to fill their remaining roster. 
Evaluations: NO
10 Games + End of season league tournament-WEATHER PERMITTING.

This is a hybrid tee-ball/coach-pitch division that introduces players to coach pitch while still giving them the tee when needed.

Players must turn 5 on or before April 30th, 2026, and can’t turn 7 until May 1st, 2026, or after.

8U Rookie

COST: $150
Team Formation: Draft League Coaches can protect up to 6 players, then attend the coaches’ draft to fill their remaining roster. 
Evaluations: YES
10 Games + End of season league tournament-WEATHER PERMITTING.

This is a pure coach-pitch division.

Players must turn 7 on or before April 30th, 2026, and can’t turn 9 until May 1st, 2026, or after.

10U Minors

COST: $150
Team Formation: Draft League Coaches can protect up to 6 players, then attend the coaches’ draft to fill their remaining roster
Evaluations: YES
10 Games + End of season league tournament-WEATHER PERMITTING.

This is a kid pitch with closed bases, along with a couple of other age-specific rules to help kids continue learning the basics.

Players must turn 9 on or before April 30th, 2026, and can’t turn 11 until May 1st, 2026, or after.

12U Majors

COST: $150
Team Formation: Draft League 
Evaluations: YES
10 Games + End of season league tournament-WEATHER PERMITTING.

This is kid pitch and will follow regular baseball rules with open bases, etc, following Cal Ripkin Major 70 rules.

Players must turn 11 on or before April 30th, 2026, and can’t turn 13 until May 1st, 2026, or after.

15U Babe Ruth

COST: $150
Team Formation: Draft League 
Evaluations: YES
10 Games + End of season league tournament-WEATHER PERMITTING.

For players ages 13-15. Players must turn 13 on or before April 30th, 2026, and can’t turn 16 until May 1st, 2026 or after.

  • If a coach/player is not opted in by May 10th, they will not be considered for the All-Star team.

ABOUT: Babe Ruth All-Stars Program

The Babe Ruth All-Stars Program is an optional opportunity for players who want to continue their season at a more competitive level.

How Players Are Selected

Players are first nominated by their coaches. From there, the coaches meet to determine the final roster. Coaches will nominate kids from their own teams and email them to baseball@kidsinc.org 

*All players who wish to be considered must complete the All-Stars Interest Form.
**Please note: Submitting the form DOES NOT guarantee selection to an All-Star team.

Player Commitment & Expectations

Being selected for an All-Star team is a commitment for both players and families.

By submitting the form, you acknowledge:

  • Participation is separate from the regular league season
  • Additional costs apply, including but not limited to:
    • Jersey/uniform
    • Travel expenses
    • Gate fees and tournament costs
  • Players must be available and willing to travel for district and state tournaments

Important Tournament Dates

  • District Tournament: June 12–14 (Pampa) *REQUIRED
  • State Tournament (if qualified): June 18–21 (Levelland) *REQUIRED
  • Regional Tournament (if qualified): July 9–12 (Monroe, LA). *If the team qualifies, the team decides whether to participate.
  • World Series (if qualified): July 24–August 5 (Florence, AL) *If the team qualifies, the team decides whether to participate.

This program is a great opportunity for local players to compete at a higher level, represent Kids, Inc., Amarillo Area Youth Baseball / Canyon Baseball Association, and continue developing their skills in a team environment.

FAQ

When are practices?

Coaches get their practice locations lined up and set their own practice schedules after getting with parents and seeing what works best for the team.

When and where are games played?

Most games are played on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons, with the occasional Monday or Friday evening.

Can my child play up in the next division?

Yes, but we highly recommend players remain in their appropriate age division. Only in rare, extenuating circumstances is it advisable to move up.

  • Spring Deadline to request Player Advancement: March 3, 2026
  • Only even-numbered ages are eligible to play up in the next division.

What are the travel requirements?

No teams in these leagues travel.

Most games are played on the weekend, with the occasional Monday or Friday evening.

Are there any holiday breaks?

We do not play games on Good Friday or Easter Sunday, but do play games that Saturday if needed. We also play games on Mother’s Day weekend.

When do tournaments start?

End-of-season tournaments start after the regular season games and will be scheduled to conclude by Memorial weekend (weather permitting). If necessary due to makeups, we will resume playoffs after Memorial Weekend and finish no later than June 8th. 

Is my child's spot on a team guaranteed?

All paid registrations received prior to registration being closed are guaranteed a spot on a team. If there is room on any teams after that, we will take registrations on a first-come, first-served basis and post details on the website about how to register.

Can siblings be on the same team?

Only siblings living in the same household may be placed on the same team. School records may be requested, verifying addresses if necessary.

Players can only move up, not down divisions.

What bats can my child use?

ALL BATS MUST FOLLOW BABE RUTH RULES. ABSOLUTELY NO USSSA BATS ALLOWED. Babe Ruth bat rules.

Player Grade Exception Information/Request

Grade Exception Policy: Below is the rule for older kids in a lower grade. Please make sure you understand these guidelines, as it’s your responsibility to know if your child is eligible.

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER ELIGIBILITY 3.01 Age-Based with Grade Exceptions Divisions: 

  • 9U Division Players who turn 10 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 3rd grade. Also, any player turning 11 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 9u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 
  • 10U Division Players who turn 11 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 4th grade. Also, any player turning 12 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 10u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 
  • 11U Division Players who turn 12 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 5th grade. Also, any player turning 13 prior to May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 11u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 
  • 12U Division Players who turn 13 prior to May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in the 6th grade. Also, any player who turns 14 before May 1 will not be eligible. Players who are 12u are eligible for this division regardless of their grade. 

We must receive a current report card or any official school document for the current school year showing your child’s grade before we will move him down a division.
